Today was our first ob appointment. We got in really quickly, answered a lot of questions, had an exam, and then . . . the ultrasound. Baby is measuring a little ahead of his official due date (October 27th). Apparently, the ultrasound shot out a due date of October 24th. Babycenter says October 26th. Oh, well. Little baby was moving around and was a cutie.hp_scands_8327226632.jpg

Big baby is working on his front upper teeth. He was a sweetie tonight, bouncing in his jumperoo. He was laughing hysterically. I decided to video him, but he never got quite as excited once I turned the camera on.

We’re headed out of town for the weekend. Dh is meeting up with one of his former coworkers and I have some shopping plans.

Thinking of

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:37 pm by kellgaston

Sunny . . . whose mom has been diagnosed with an advanced case of cancer . . . in the midst of Sunny’s first cycle of IVF after ttc for 5 years. How do you focus on treatment when faced with such a diagnosis.

Kathy . . . whose unborn baby has a severe heart condition . . . after a bit of hope last week, this week’s scan showed lots of fluid . . . a sign that baby Molly’s heart is failing fast . . . Kathy is so brave in spite of impending (although continuing) heartbreak. She had the courage to say that she’s sort of relieved it’s almost over after months and months of agonizing over the what ifs.

I think I’m going to have to stop reading other people’s blogs. I have a hard time dealing with the pain I read about. Why do so many bad things happen?

Here I’ve been worried about trivial things like when we can build a new house and when I can get a new car. What a waste of time. I’m so fortunate to have a healthy baby boy, a wonderful husband, a nice house, a great job, and a wonderful family — and another baby on the way! I just pray he or she is healthy and happy.

Flu, flu, go away

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:46 pm by kellgaston

Nathaniel is stuffy again. I just hope it is allergies, and not a second round of the flu for him. His teeth are bothering him again as well. This picture (below) is from when baby was sick a few weeks ago. Poor baby!

Sick Baby

This has been a really long week. I was in a workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday. Had lots of meetings on Thursday as well a site visit to a scary, but beautiful old building (complete with pigeon poop and an unstable floor). Friday, it was off to Tulsa town for a meeting about a downtown survey and a site visit to another building (although this one was at least stable — oh, we did go out on the roof which involved some major climbing). A special representative for the m*yor and I got into it — I guess I wasn’t too diplomatic. I tell it like I see it. He wants to pay two interns $20,000 for two months of survey work. Umm . . . no. Not with taxpayer money!

Anyway . . . I was exhausted when I got home Friday night. 5 hours in the car is not fun.

Oh, I almost forgot. Thursday night, the ladies group from church went to dinner and a movie. We saw the O*her B*leyn G*rl. I read the book over the summer and of course, I am familiar with the story. It was alright. What more can you add to that story? The characters surprised me, though. Natalie P*rtman did a pretty good job as Anne. The king was a little young looking, but otherwise . . . But it was a fun time, nonetheless.

Land . . . at last

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:43 pm by kellgaston

So, when we put in the offer on the 1.3 acres on January 14th, I never thought it would take two months to close the deal. Boy, was I wrong. We finally closed on the land today. What a mess to arrange! If we’d known it was going to be so much trouble, we would have hesitated a little more, but once we made the offer, we were committed.

Announcing . . .

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:33 pm by kellgaston

hp_scands_839196208.jpgWhat I’ve been hinting at: #2.

I’ve been saving some posts for a while (2/19/08 and 2/20/08). Just a little over two weeks ago, we got some very unexpected news . . . I’m pregnant.

I feel like a very bad infertile — actually a very blessed one. I didn’t want to “say” anything about until at least the six week ultrasound. Somehow I felt like I might be “jinxing” things. I have to remind myself that whatever is supposed to happen will happen. My sharing/not sharing the news has no impact on it. And if something happened, I would definitely be sharing about that. I also didn’t want to share because I really wanted some fellow infertiles to get pg first! But God has a funny sense of timing.

So, we’re excited, yet nervous. I don’t think I’ll ever get out of the worried phase. I just pray for this little bean all the time . . . the little bean and its big brother. The baby is due in late October.

We’re very blessed.

Oh, and if I know you in real life, please don’t share this info with anyone (especially at church). We plan to announce this officially very soon.

3 days late

Sick . . . again

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:20 pm by kellgaston

This week has been long and exhausting. Dh was sick all last weekend and missed work Monday and Tuesday (well, actually he worked from home). I started coughing uncontrollably Sunday night — it only got worse on Monday. I came home early on Monday and missed Tuesday and Wednesday. I went in late today and left early for a doctor’s appointment. I am so ready to feel better.

Catching Up

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:43 pm by kellgaston

It’s been forever since I posted — things have been in a whirl. Last weekend, baby and I were sick. Guess who’s sick this weekend? Dh, of course.

I missed two days of work last week because of sickness — so I had to cancel one of my scheduled research trips. Have to make that up next week.
