Latest Happenings

I think I put in a 12 hour day today. So much for working “part-time.” It’s a good thing I enjoy it! I had an appraisal at 10 am, followed by a closing at 4 pm, and a meeting with a seller for a new listing at 5:30. I didn’t get home until after 7 pm, at which time I fed the baby, fed myself, and then set down to do some research for a buyer I will be meeting tomorrow at 10 am.

But the closing today was good. I am happy for the seller — she really wanted to get out from under the mortgage and I was able to help make that happen. Yeah!

Thankfully, my mom is here. She was able to go with me this morning and then was here with the kids until dh got home after work.

I inherited a new listing this week (that was my 5:30). It’s a nice little house — if you know anyone who is looking for a 3/1.1 on the south side . . . :) I’ll be holding an open house there next Sunday. I’m afraid the house may need a little cosmetic work to really attract buyers. But, I’m willing to help.

Ava is really changing these days. My skinny baby finally has a little meat on her bones. She’s definitely not roly poly, but she’s not super skinny either. She is very picky. She hates bottles, especially of formula. I don’t know what she’s going to do tomorrow when I’m showing houses all day. She loves to lay on the floor and play with her gym and other floor toys. She loves to stand and she makes all kinds of noises. She thinks Nathaniel is the greatest.

Nathaniel is hilarious. He can be so wild and he can be so sweet. The way he runs is too cute, although he still sometimes runs on his tippy toes. He can say quite a few words and an occasionaly combination of words. His newest word is “zebra.” He can also say “cracker” really well, in addition to mama, daddy, mammy, grandma, gigi, and papa (never grandpa — he will correct you). He desperately needs a haircut. Dh hates to cut it because right now, he calls Nathaniel the “blonde flash” when he’s running. He loves to run. He is obsessed with Thomas the Train. One day, he could care less about tv, and the next day, all he wants to do is watch Thomas. It’s the first thing he wants to do in the morning and the last thing he wants to do at night. Really, he just likes the music. Lots of times he just sits down to watch the intro and the ending and plays with something else during the rest of the show.

Well, maybe I can finally fall asleep. I was just too wound up after my crazy day.

Craziness

I was just watching my favorite morning news show. The spokesperson for the California octuplets was talking to Meredith. And, omg, does she know anything about IVF? She made a statement to the effect that that everybody knows you can’t control how many babies you get with IVF. Does she know anything about IVF? If you put in one embyro, you are not going to end up with eight fetuses! We put in two and ended up with one little guy — we knew we could have ended up with two but one is what we wanted and were blessed with. You always know that you could have as many babies as embryos you put back, and there is always the possibility of identical twinning (especially if the embryos are 3 day as opposed to 5 day or even more mature), but 8 should never ever happen.

What irresponsible doctor would do this? He/she should be in serious trouble. And the mother . . . she says she only wanted one baby. And apparently, IVF had worked for her in the past, so there was no reason to put in a large number of embryos. She should have frozen the “extras.” How does a person in her financial situation afford IVF in the first place? That doesn’t seem fair. She should have had to pay $15,000 for each procedure.
